“To become a master at any skill, it takes the total effort of your: heart, mind, and soul working together in tandem.” ― Maurice Young

“It took me a lifetime.” ― Pablo Picasso

The topic of ‘mastery’ keeps popping up in my head. In many ways, it’s obvious why because of where I’m at in my life – 23, working, career-driven, seeking meaning – and I desire self-improvement. What’s becoming clearer is my desire for some sort of mastery – perhaps a mastery of something, of some way of being, of mastering me (something I know won’t be easy or come quickly), even of an understanding of mastery in a world of Jacks and Jills of all trades, one reason I was so excited reading this: ‘25 Best Books on Self-Improvement You Need to Read Before You Turn 25,’ which you don’t need to be under 25 to read, because we’re growing and changing all the time. Take a look!

  1. Howdy Miss Julie. Hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season. I’m nearly 53 and just reached the” “master me” part. Spent many years wondering, “Which me?” Still joke about it in DBB. I’ve only read (and still have in my collection) “How to Win Friends..” and “Feeling Good..” Perhaps that’s been my problem all this time. I do like Jon Kabat-Zinn’s “Wherever You Go There You Are.” Largely about living in the moment. Gave it to a lady friend and never got it back. Zevon: Enjoy every sandwich. Back to the past. I’ve really messed up my Gravatar section and can’t delete my errors. Any tips? Codex is usually my friend, but I can’t figure I having difficulty with this one. Any tips? Finally starting to get serious with my blogs and I reckon it’s time to get this fixed. Peace, my friend, and may 2014 be even better for you than 2013 apparently has. Rob H.
