The topic of ‘mastery’ keeps popping up in my head. In many ways, it’s obvious why because of where I’m at in my life – 23, working, career-driven, seeking meaning – and I desire self-improvement. What’s becoming clearer is my desire for some sort of mastery – perhaps a mastery of something, of some way of being, of mastering me (something I know won’t be easy or come quickly), even of an understanding of mastery in a world of Jacks and Jills of all trades, one reason I was so excited reading this: ‘25 Best Books on Self-Improvement You Need to Read Before You Turn 25,’ which you don’t need to be under 25 to read, because we’re growing and changing all the time.
