“We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love… and then we return home.” – Australian Aboriginal saying
Listen to one another, care, help, be more gentle and empathetic, practice compassion and kindness, learn as much as you can – especially about anything you do not yet understand – and never stop.
That’s what I’m trying to do.
I love Australia. It’s my home but I hope to be mindful of different experiences and hardships, and engage compassionately to assist healing for all of us. We’re in this together.
Working for an organisation that supports Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders through university studies and community projects is teaching me a greater appreciation for our shared histories and the future we’re working towards.
“Our spirituality is a oneness and an interconnectedness with all that lives and breathes, even with all that does not live or breathe.” ― Mudrooroo
While it is complex – I feel the more I know, the more I know I don’t know – and it can be hard to express or know how to help others, the stories I hear and my experiences are helping me to see through eyes I wouldn’t otherwise have had, which I’m grateful for, because each day I learn more about Australia/ns reminds me to share more love and respect today.
“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
― Albert Einstein
I hope you’ll join me in raising consciousness.
The world needs it, every day.
