  • Blue Gum Trail Hike, Great North Walk Track, Hornsby New South Wales

    February 10th, 2019

“You’ll never find peace of mind until you listen to your heart.”
    —George Michael

This hike is a slice of paradise. The light in the morning and evening are delightful and I love the feeling of exhilaration once I walk out of the bush. The after glow of hiking lasts for days. I find harmony in the outdoors.

“We know only too well that what we are doing is nothing more than a drop in the ocean. But if the drop were not there, the ocean would be missing something.” ― Mother Teresa

Windy, windy Port Macquarie (Mid North Coast, NSW), with blue bottles, big beautiful blue skies and hot but pleasant summer highs.

So much of this trip was about water – the ocean, observing the water-covered earth from NASA at the Observatory, refuelling the ‘tank’ and coming back home (in myself) after the big year that was 2018; learning to be fluid, to let go, to surrender to the great deep of life, to renew the spirit.

The epic highs at North Brother Mountain!

    “if
    the ocean
    can calm itself,
    so can you.
    we
    are both
    salt water
    mixed with
    air.”
    ― Nayyirah Waheed

May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun
And find your shoulder to light on,
To bring you luck, happiness and riches
    Today, tomorrow and beyond.

“The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.” — Jacques Yves Cousteau

It was wonderful to spend time in Port Macquarie, to be still and to take in a new year. We stayed near the beaches, close to Flynns Beach, where the sunrise made me feel at ease, but more than anything, at home.

“We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature — trees, flowers, grass — grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence. We need silence to be able to touch souls.” — Mother Teresa
